Mountain Gorillas! Yes, when you say “Rwanda” I immediately think mountain gorillas!

I wish I could adequately describe the incredible rush I felt when I first visited the mountain gorillas of Rwanda. After a trek of anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour, you will encounter these gentle giants.

Watch mothers holding babies and teaching them how to strip the bamboo so they can feed themselves. Catch the toddlers playing, rolling on the ground. Check out the silverback, the head honcho male gorilla, and see how with a few gestures he commands the troop. The daily park fee of approximately $1500 entitles you to an hour up close and personal with the mountain gorillas and then rest at one of the well-tended private lodges a short distance from Volcanoes National Park.

Consider visiting other parts of Rwanda to catch a glimpse of golden monkeys.
