Olympics? Why watch when you can watch Demolition Derby?
London’s Olympics began Friday, July 27, 2012. We watched the pageantry of the opening ceremonies with awe and were especially proud of the US Team (of course). We also cheered on Bhutan for 2 reasons: 1) How can you not love a country that measures Gross National Happiness? 2) We’re going to Bhutan for 11 days in November! Personally, I love the Olympics—citizens pull together to cheer on their country; we witness excellence in athletics; and, we set aside our political bickering, if only for a few weeks.
Today, July 28, 2012, I haven’t had the luxury of watching the Olympics because I was reveling in watching another sport, Demolition Derby. Truth be told, it isn’t really a competition—it’s an exciting celebration! Great Getaways Travel celebrated 20 years of creating vacations this month and we are growing! We’re adding 750 sq. ft. of space to our office to better serve you, our clients and friends.
This is our Olympic Gold Medal moment-we are the first name many people think of when planning a vacation and while other companies are trimming back, your support of our custom designed vacations has enabled our expansion! We offer you a world of thanks!

- We have added 5 travel advisors to our company in 2012—3 in-house and 2 Independent Contractors
- We were chosen as one of the Class of Top 25 Companies with Under 25 Employees in Kansas City
- We are adding 750 sq. ft. to our office
- We were named one of the 2012 TOP 100 List of Fastest Growing Companies in KC by Ingram’s Magazine!
