Ballyfin

There was a housekeeper, Mrs. Barry, who helped keep an Irish boarding school tidy. She’d often find loose boards and shards of wood from the floors, would pick them up, and carefully saved them. She thought the wood too beautiful to throw away. The building had been a private residence for over 100 years before being sold to the Patrician Brothers and had the most elegant and intricate wood floors. What does this have to do with today’s ultra-luxury, must experience estate, Ballyfin? Read on.

A LOOK BACK AT BALLYFIN

Tradition at its finest, Ballyfin, a 15 bedroom  manor home sits on 650 acres of Irish countryside. You can trace the history of the land back to 1600. The manor home, Ballyfin, or Ballyfin Demesne which is its formal name, was the private home of the Coote family. People felt the property was the best and most sumptuous Regency style home in its day. It transitioned from private home to become a boarding school in 1928 and was a very popular private school for the rest of the 20th century.

WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?

The current owners bought the property in 2002 and they took over eight years to meticulously restore Ballyfin and today it is again ranked as one of the most luxurious country estates in Ireland.
